Description
The Boy and the Tree
About the Book:
Carlos migrates with his parents to a new country, leaving everything he has ever known behind. To help him remember his roots, his grandfather gives him a young tree from his orchard. Carlos finds that raising the tree in the unfamiliar city concrete is difficult, just like the move. Then one day, a girl walks across the concrete to introduce herself. Despite the language and cultural barriers, the two begin a friendship that helps both Carlos and his tree establish roots in their new home.

This is exactly what we need in today’s world – a beautiful, story about immigration and belonging that shows compassion in the writing and diversity in the illustrations. Hope this author and artist plan on creating more books together!
